Jackie and Adele take an air sample

10 Easy Steps to take a bucket air sample

  1. IAttach a clean unused bag the underside of the Bucket’s lid at the stainless steel fittingly sliding the nozzle of the bag into the small hole in the fitting.Tighten the nut so that the bag does not fall off during sampling.Dont over tighten the nut, or the pressure fitting will not detach after the sample bag is removed.

  2. Open the large white valve on the bag to show two-three threads. If you open it too much the valve will fall off; if it is not open enough then air will not get into the bucket. DO NOT TOUCH THE SMALL BROWN VALVE AT THE END OF THE WHITE VALVE; It will not allow air into the bag. Make sure the brown valve is never opened.

  3. Close the Bucket lid without getting the bag caught in the cover. Make sure the lid is completely closed and the Bucket is airtight.

  4. Attach the vacuum to the hose, turn the vacuum on and put it on the ground. Use your timer to set 30 seconds. RULE: the vacuum is the first thing on and the last thing off. Note: If you are using a manual pump, set the hose on deflate and pump several times to create enough pressure.

  5. After 30 seconds, screw off the steel cap completely, and set it on top of the Bucket.Note: with the manual pump, give it enough pumps to keep the bag filling up with air.
